Legal notices

How to read what is published here — particularly the older material, which is kept as a record rather than maintained as current guidance.

The archive is a historical record

The archive holds351 documents published on EMCOG's previous website. They are kept in a designated archive area, reproduced in their original unaltered form, and provided for reference only. They are not maintained, not updated, and are not current guidance.

A plan, strategy or map in the archive may have been superseded, amended or withdrawn since it was written. Check with staff before relying on an archived document for anything that matters.

Maps and data

Maps and geographic data published here are produced for regional planning. They are illustrative and are not survey-accurate. Nothing on this site determines a property boundary, a right of way, a floodplain designation or a zoning classification. For any of those, consult the county or local unit of government that maintains the official record.

Links to other organizations

This site links to state and federal agencies, member communities and partner organizations because the material is useful. A link is not an endorsement, and EMCOG does not control and is not responsible for what those sites publish. Some links in the archive point to documents that have since been moved or removed by the organization that published them; where we know a link is already broken, the archive says so rather than leaving you to find out.

Reusing this material

East Michigan Council of Governments is a public body and most of what it publishes is a public record. You are welcome to read, download, quote and redistribute the documents here. Please attribute them to EMCOG and, for anything from the archive, note the date of the document so a reader is not misled into treating an older plan as current.

Some archived documents were produced by other organizations — consultants, state agencies, member communities — and their authors retain whatever rights they held. Where a document names another publisher, ask them.

Accessibility

How this site works for people using assistive technology, what the archived documents do and do not meet, and how to ask for something in another format, are all set out in theaccessibility statement.
